Martinique Beach
Martinique is the longest sandy beach in Nova Scotia. It’s 5 km of soft, white sand. While it can be more challenging for surfers due to a strong rip current, it’s still very popular with the local surfing community. The dunes at Martinique are off limits as the endangered Piping Plover nests there. After a stop for coffee and treats at Dobbit’s Bakehouse or a helping of fresh fish n’ chips at Harbour Fish n’ Fries (both located at the head of the East Petpeswick Road), it’s well worth the 12 km drive down this winding road to see this gorgeous beach that seemingly stretches on forever. There are also some beautiful weekly rental properties located right on this beach.

Beautiful long sandy beach. Pebbles are only on the beach after a major storm has gone through or just after winter. Mid day on hot summer weekends can be busy but the rest of the time it’s our favourite spot to be in Nova Scotia! Plus, super close to local brewery, local bakery, fish and chip restaurant, railway museum, trails, and other amenities.
Not only the longest but also best beach in NS. High surf unlike Clam Harbour which is 30 mins further east. Nic and private if you enjoy a nice beach hike as vehicles are cut off from access to more than half the beach.
Poor signage, parking, traffic jams, beach was sand but rocks too. 10 minutes more Clam bay nicer white sand less headache.
Great place for surfing, beautiful seascape. Lots of mosquitoes, no seems and large black flies. Bring your screen tent and you’ll be fine.
